PIEL Y TIERRA

We arrived on a typical cloudy sunny Sunday afternoon. I asked the gentleman sitting next to me if he wouldn't mind opening the shade for me. I could not resist watching the airplane landing in the beautiful "Sabana  de Bogota".  I just couldn't miss looking at the patchy green lands of the flower crops, and the white and plastic green houses of roses and astromelias, and the read brick walls of the farmer houses.

While landing we smile, my eyes got watery, upon approximation to Bogota, as they always do since I left Colombia 12 years ago. And then, the folkloric clamping during landing that Colombian passengers always do celebrating the arriving to the land of magical realism, Colombia.

Here some imagenes from La Chamba. Tolima, Colombia.

COLOMBIA LA TIERRA QUE NO OLVIDO

Colombia have so many things that are exiting. Things hard to describe and that one can only feel while spending time there.
It is a mixed between imperfection, happiness, authenticity and exclusiveness.... I missed this cocktail.  And on this post I would like to share some pictures  I took in December 2003. Few months before  my grandmother passed away. These are imagenes from a trip I took in Colombia, while JC was in Irak.

VOGAGE SUBLIME. Excerpts from the Sublime preface by Andrej Kupetz

"..."an object becomes larger and more complex the more effort and time we invest in reducing it"

"..the more the appearance is perfected, the stronger the content.

..."leaving out and the concentration of the essential.
In this view, emotional value result from things been liberated from the superflous and the essence of objects is proverbially peeled free.
Thus the truly simple is always the result of an intense and elaborated process. The viewers or users do not see that, but they feel it. It is the essence of the sublime that seizes them. If they have sufficient empathy, they will immediately develop an emotional acces to products created this way.""

EL PLACER DEL SILENCIO

1.29.2012
